Recipe of the Week: Egg White Sandwich
I’m trying this new thing at the dorm. It’s called exercise – and it’s horrible. I finally caved in to my innate desire to eat all the chocolate in my sight, and the results were disastrous to say the least. Being healthy is going to take a lot more than just attempting to eat right, it’s about drinking lots of water (no more soda), and exercising!
I know, of course, that this is all common sense. But exercising has never been a hobby of mine. I could go on to blame the fact that I never belonged to a gym, the cold weather, the hot weather, the days I was under-the-weather…but let’s be honest: those are excuses! Being healthy is not just a diet; it’s a way of life.
Despite the huge floor-to ceiling windows overlooking the weights and treadmills in the dorm lobby, I practically forgot the gym existed. So this week I decided to revisit the gym and exercise for an hour. I only lasted forty-five minutes, but that’s still something!
To continue on the healthy trend, I decided to look up some foods that were non-fatty and high in protein and discovered the beauty of egg whites. Yes I know anyone who’s ever wanted to lose weight or exercise has already discovered this. However, I felt it was important to acknowledge why egg whites are so popular in the weight loss world. Egg whites are high in protein, but low in fat, which helps you build muscle without gaining weight. Of course, these aren’t the only factors to consider when trying maintaining a balanced diet. This leads me to my next recipe: Egg white sandwich! This sandwich is great for brunch. It will fill you up and keep you energized for a long time. (I feel inclined to tell you guys, I am not a nutritionist, and this recipe will not guarantee that you will lose weight. It is just a fun recipe to try involving egg whites.)
Ingredients:
-Two Eggs (separate egg yolk and egg white)
-Bread of your choice (I used a bagel)
-Cheese (Optional!)
-Cold Cuts (Optional!)-(I used turkey)
-Salt, Ground Pepper, Pepper Flakes

Step One: Crack the two eggs, and separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. o do this, gently lean the egg yolk to one side of the egg while you crack the egg in half. Let the egg white on the other side of the egg spill into a bowl. Transfer the egg yolk to the other side of the egg without letting any egg white through. Let the rest of the egg white spill into the bowl. Put the egg yolk aside. Add salt, ground pepper, and pepper flakes to taste.

Step Two: Butter frying pan. Pour egg whites into frying pan. Wait until the bottom of the egg whites (it will look clear when raw) has turned a milky white color before folding it over. Add a slice of cheese on top and let it melt.

Step Three: Add egg white with cheese onto bread and add cold cuts. You now have your sandwich! Enjoy!
Have a happy, healthy, stress-free week guys! If there is a recipe you’d like to see posted, just leave a comment.
Sounds delicious! I love egg white sandwiches, they’re a favorite brunch dish of mine as well!
Superb post however , I was wanting to know if you could write a litte more on this topic?
I’d be very grateful if you could elaborate a little bit more. Kudos!
Thank you! I’m no nutritionist, but I can definitely try! I’ll keep it in mind for my next post.
I visited multiple web pages except the audio quality for audio songs existing at this web
page is really wonderful.
First off I want to say awesome blog! I had a quick
question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.
I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing.
I’ve had a hard time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there. I do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or hints? Thanks!
First of all: thank you! It’s definitely difficult trying to come up with things to say. I usually go through long periods of writer’s block before I can write anything. There is one technique I started using that seems to help me when I absolutely must write something at that moment. I write anything that comes to mind, almost like a stream of consciousness writing style. It usually comes out ridiculous in the beginning, but after a while of writing what’s on my mind, I begin to sense a common topic, and then focus in on a theme. Hope that helps!
